Adult Diapers & Incontinence

by on Oct.19, 2009, under Health

An adult diaper is a diaper made to be worn by a person with a body larger than that of an infant or an infant. Diapers become required for adults who suffer from different conditions, such as incontinence, mobility impairment, or dementia. Adult diapers are made in different forms, including those, which resemble traditional child diapers, underpants, and pads resembling clean napkins (known as incontinence pads).

In the medical community, professionals are trained to use alternative terms such like “briefs” rather than “diapers” for the sake of dignity, because the term “diapers” is related with kids and therefore can have a negative connotation. In practice, although, most health care staff are accustomed to calling them diapers, particularly those which resemble childrens’ diapers.

Incontinence

Incontinence is the loss of bladder control. This means that you can’t forever control when you urinate.  Incontinence can range from leaking a little amount of urine (such as when coughing or laughing) to having very strong urges to urinate that are difficult to control. This can be embarrassing, but it can be treated. It’s most common in people over 50 years old, particularly women. But it can also assign the young people, particularly women who have just given birth. Be sure to talk to your doctor if you have this problem.

Bathroom Handrails

While we age and lose agility, bathing can become difficult. Falls in the bathroom, particularly the bathtub, shower areas, are a leading cause of the damage. Grab bars and bathroom handrails are not just for the elderly or people with disabilities, each one will profit by making it easier to obtain in and out of the bathtub or shower.
